2009 ALL
STATE CHORUS
The South Dakota All State Chorus may
be the largest all- state event in the United States. With a average
of over 1,000 choral students and 150 orchestra students attending
each year, the experience is totally unique. The quality of the
choral attendees is enhanced by the selection process. Participation
is determined by local school competition, as established by the
high-school choral director. Each school is allowed to send a
certain number of SATB quartets, depending on the high school's
enrollment. When all schools send all the quartets allowed, All-State
Chorus numbers over eleven hundred singers. All-State Chorus &
Orchestra is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled
at schools belonging to the SD High School Activities Association.
The South Dakota All State Chorus (and Orchestra) is a co-sponsored
event with the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
Dr. Kenneth Meidl
will direct the 2009 All State Chorus. Dr. Meidl is the head
of the music department at Appleton West High School, WI.
