Elementary Honor Choir is
a choir of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who are chosen
by taped audition. Only teachers who are members
of SDMEA may audition their students for the Honor Choir.
You are not to audition students under a different person’s
membership number.
Charlotte
Morey
2010 SDMEA Elementary Honor Choir Guest Director
Charlotte Morey received her bachelor’s
degree in Music Education from Dickinson State
University in Dickinson, North Dakota, and her Kodaly
Mastery Certification from the University of St.
Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has taught elementary
music since 1971, most recently in Fargo, North
Dakota, until her retirement in 2008. She is presently
the Artistic Director of the Red River Boy Choir .
She has conducted children’s choirs since 1989 and regularly
serves as a guest conductor throughout the
state of North Dakota for honor choirs of all ages. She
has been on the teaching staff at the International
Music Camp since 1990 and guest conductor for the Middle
School Choir week since 2003. Mrs. Morey is
a member of MENC, NDMEA , ACDA, OAKE, and NEA. She has
held offices in all of the organizations,
including state president of the NDACDA and president
of the local OAKE chapter. She has presented
numerous workshops for conventions in all of the organizations
statewide and regionally. She has received
the ND Outstanding Music Educator Award, the Dickinson
State Alumni Fellows Award, and the
Distinguished Service Award from the International Music
Camp. She is also listed in Who’s Who of
American Women and Who’s Who in American Education.
