Karla Chiarello graduated from Augustana College with a degree in Music Education.  She is currently in her 8th year as Orchestra Director at Washington High School in Sioux Falls.  In addition to the 3 ensembles she directs at Washington, she is also teaches AP Music Theory there and is the orchestra director at Anne Sullivan Elementary.  Before teaching at Anne Sullivan Elementary she worked for two years with the orchestra students at Laura Wilder Elementary.
Karla has played in the double bass section of the South Dakota Symphony since 1998.  She has also played in the Dakota Wind Ensemble, Augustana College/Community Orchestra, and Aberdeen Civic Symphony.  She had served as All-State Orchestra Librarian for the last 5 years and has served two previous terms and Orchestra Chair.
