Overview: |
Years
of Service Award plaques are presented as a music educator
completes 25, 30, 35, 40, or 45 years of service. At
the 2009 SDMEA Music Educators Banquet during the South
Dakota All State Chorus/Orchestra weekend,
SDMEA will present Years
of Service Awards. The awardees can be in any music
teaching career field and do not have to be members
of MENC/SDMEA.

SDMEA Music Educators Banquet
SDMEA Music Educators Banquet
The 2nd annual SDMEA Music Educators Banquet was
held Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Rushmore Plaza
Civic Center. The Banquet was held in conjunction
with the 2009 SDMEA Conference. Attendees were entertained
during dinner with beautiful harp music performed
by Lillie Pendleton.
Following the dinner, recognition was given to music
educators for completing 25, 30, and 35 years of service.
In addition, recognition was given to our 2009 Distinguished
Service to Music Award recipients, the 2009 Distinguished
Administrator Award recipient, and the High School
Participation Award (1st ever presented in South Dakota).
The banquet was a great opportunity to converse with
fellow music educators. Our featured speaker was Barbara
Geer, MENC President for 2008-2010. Attendees enjoyed
singing The Star Spangled Banner and The Hallelujiah
Chorus. Plans are already in the making for the 3rd
annual SDMEA Music Educators Banquet.
